This series dates from 1994 and was created as part of my MA printmaking studies at Camberwell School of Art.
All the work originated from the same screen-printed image with each piece worked individually and developed in a different way. I was thinking about how we view history through particular windows of fact – some of which are clearer and more distinct and others less informed, how they can be romanticised like a dust of snow can change a landscape, or thin veils of fabric can be so seductive. The most in-focus or in-vogue ideas become the strongest ideas of their time. Some of the images are layered with religious iconography and images based on micro-biology.
